Engine Mounts Removal and Installation

Step-by-step procedure for removing and installing engine mounts on the Lexus GS, including torque specifications.

  • Remove the engine cover.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Support the engine with a floor jack and jack stands.
  • Remove the bolts connecting the engine mount to the engine.
  • Remove the bolts connecting the engine mount to the subframe.
  • Remove the engine mount.
  • Install the new engine mount.
  • Tighten the bolts connecting the engine mount to the subframe to 59 Nm (43 ft-lb).
  • Tighten the bolts connecting the engine mount to the engine to 75 Nm (55 ft-lb).
  • Connect the negative battery terminal.
  • Install the engine cover.

Resolution: Inspect the coolant hose for leaks. If a leak IS found, replace the hose and tighten the hose clamps to 25 Nm (18 ft-lb).
